Ninth biathlon World Cup stage Ninth biathlon World Cup stage will take place in Holmenkollen (Norway) from 23d until 26th of March. In the program: Sprint, Pursuit and Mass Start. Eighth biathlon World Cup stage Eighth biathlon World Cup stage took place in Finland, at the Kontiolahti stadium. Mass Start The weather was even worse on Sunday. The snow didn’t stop and the visibility was just awful. For Ivan Tcherezov this race was almost the same as the previous one. He failed his prone shooting (one miss in the first and two in the second) and was faultless in the standing stance. Finally Ivan Tcherezov ranked 18th. That was not a great result but nevertheless Ivan was the best of all Russian athletes. Nikolay Kruglov 20 (1 1 0 0), Sergei Rozhkov 24 (1 1 1 1), Maxim Tchoudov 26 (2 2 2 2). Here are three top athletes: Tomas Sikora (Poland), Raphael Poiree (France), Ole Einar Bjoerndalen (Norway). Svetlana Ishmuratova was the best Russian with 15th rank (1 2 0 0). Anna Bogaliy-Titovets 18 (2 0 0 1), Natalia Guseva 24 (2 1 0 1). Three top results had following athletes: Olena Zubrilova (Belarus), Kati Wilhelm (Germany) and Tadeja Brankovich (Slovenia). The wind became stronger and it started to snow. All that made the conditions for the race pretty hard. When men’s turn has come the snowfall was even stronger and the visibility got worse. For Ivan Tcherezov first half of today’s race was really unsuccessful: two errors in the first and three in the second prone sessions. Third and fourth shootings were clean. As a result Ivan ranked only 22nd. Ole Einar Bjoerndalen from Norway won the race. Raphael Poiree (France) was second. Another Norwegian Lars Berger – third. Russian biathletes finished with the following results: Sergei Rozhkov 6th (0 0 0 1), Maxim Tchoudov 12 (1 1 1 1), Andrei Makoveev 17 (1 2 0 1), Dmitri Iarochenko 40 (2 3 1 1), Alexei Soloviev 41 (2 0 1 1). Ann Carin Olofsson made a golden double today. Kati Wilhelm (Germany) won silver. Olena Zubrilova from Belarus was third. The weather made both sportsmen and fans pleased: it was a sunny day with no wind. Ivan Tcherezov perfectly went through the first half of the race and shot clean in the prone. Unfortunately in the standing stance Ivan made a miss with his last shot. That miss didn’t allow Ivan to rank higher than 11th place. Both races won biathletes from Sweden. In the Women Sprint won Ann Carin Olofsson, in the Men Carl Johan Bergman celebrated his victory. Among Russian women Olga Anisimova was the best ranking 13th and with no penalties. Sergei Rozhkov was the best Russian biathlete in the Men competition ranking finally 8th with perfect shooting.
