16.12.2006 г.   Risky decision Although Ivan Tcherezov was in the start list of today’s Sprint his performance in the race was under doubt. At first, coaches wanted to give Ivan a rest as well as a chance to recover and prepare for the Sunday’s Relay. Finally, it was decided to permit Ivan make this decision himself. It was not known what the final decision was until very start of the Sprint. Eventually, Ivan Tcherezov decided to start in the race. It was a risky decision made by him but it finally proved to be right. Ivan’s only miss in the prone could not spoil his performance and he finally ranked 8th. Ivan again showed the best result among all Russian biathletes. Dmitri Iarochenko was the closest Russian ranking 17th with one error in the standing stance. Results of Russian biathletes: 23 Nikolay Kruglov (0 0), 27 Maxim Tchoudov (2 1), 33 Sergei Rozhkov (0 2), 50 Sergei Tchepikov (3 0), 80 Andrei Makoveev (3 2). Podium places were occupied by following biathletes: Raphael Poiree (France), Michael Roesch (Germany) and Sven Fischer (Germany).

Эстафета была очень нервная. Я, правда, на работе была, пожтому смотрела опять кусками. Конечно растроилась из-за удмуртов. А главное, что сначла анписали в титрах, что они третьи. И я уже подумала, что чудеса бывают. А потом написали, что четвертые. Но Ваня молодец (естественно) Вот Ленка написала, что был после гонки не в духе.
